• • The Submarines have complete record no.2. Honeysuckle Weeks ( Nettwerk Records) will be released on May 13th with a pre-release on iTunes April 18th. Two North American tours will follow the group's performance at SXSW. Honeysuckle Weeks was recorded by Dragonetti and partner Blake Hazard at their home studio in east Los Angeles. The new album features special guest's, The Section Quartet, who performed on three songs. Several songs from the first album, "Declare A New State", were featured in various films and television shows including the season finale of NiP/TUCK where the cast lip-synched to "Brighter Discontent" in it's entirety. The band also toured the U.S. extensively opening for Ladytron, Nouvelle Vague, The Frames, Josh Ritter & El Perro Del Mar. MySpace-heads can go here.
• "SURFWiSE" (HDNet FIlms) will be released on May 9th.The film had it's world premier at the Toronto International Film Festival this past September. The U.S. premier was at the Vista theatre as part of the Swerve Festival. Check out the trailer below!
Produced by Graydon Carter and directed by Doug Pray, "SURFWISE delves into the life of legendary Malibu surfer Dorian “Doc” Paskowitz, who introduced the sport to Israel in the 1960s." John just finished composing the music for the film. Doug also directed the brilliant documentaries, Scratch and Hype. • BiG iDEAS FOR A SMALL PLANET (The Sundance Channel) Season Two is complete and will air on Tuesday, April 1. JD composed all of the original music for both seasons. One of the guest commentators this season is former Talking Heads frontman, David Byrne! Big Ideas was produced by Scout Productions (Queer Eye For The Straight Guy, Fog of War). The show is part of Robert Redford's "The Green", a weekly block of programing dedicated entirely to the enviroment. • COMMERCIALS Check out the new Anti-Smoking ad that Doug Pray directed called KISS!. A full length version of the song will soon be recorded by The Submarines. Two new VOLVO spots are up too! • WEEDS (Showtime) The Submarines' version of "Little Boxes" was featured as the theme song for episode 8 in season 2. John also worked with Pixies guitarist, Joey Santiago, on the original music for season 1.

• John Dragonetti is a music composer and producer living in Los Angeles. In the past three years, John has scored music for award- winning TV series which have aired on HBO, Showtime, the Sundance Chanel, NBC and E!. He has also composed music for numerous commercials, working with such brands as Volkswagon, Coca-Cola, Hummer and EA Games. In addition, Dragonetti has performed with his band, Jack Drag, and in his most recent project, The Submarines, recording and touring internationally with both groups. He has produced albums for numerous bands, and has received commisions to remix tracks by such artists as Avril Lavigne, Leigh Nash from Sixpence None The Richer, and Spanish rockers The Pinkertones. Surfwise is Dragonetti’s first feature film. |
